Cory Kinsinger

Cory grew up in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania and was introduced to golf by his dad when he was about four years old. He started getting serious when he was in high school while playing for the high school golf team, and eventually decided to attend the PGA Golf Management program at Campbell University because he wanted to go south so that he could play golf year-round. That’s where he met Ryan Dailey, another Stack & Tilt Golf instructor, who got him passionate about teaching. In fact, Cory currently coaches five other Campbell University PGM students and a couple of them are planning on pursuing professional playing careers.

Cory spent this past summer 2015 working with Ryan and Matt Reagan at their up-and-coming iGrow Golf junior development program at Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies Creek, NC. He enjoys working with juniors and his ultimate goal is to become the Director of Instruction at a golf club and remain actively involved in junior golf. Cory is a rising senior and is looking forward to enjoying his last year in school before diving into his golf career.

In some unrelated news, Cory and his fellow PGM classmate Seth Thompson came together to create a golfer spoof video set to the wildly popular hit "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" by Silentó that went viral. Click here to check out the hilarious video!

Par 5 Q&A with Cory

Q: What's your Stack & Tilt Golf story?
A: I got introduced to Stack & Tilt Golf through Ryan Dailey, whom I met at Campbell, and also from Luke Donah, a PGM student one year older, who took me and my classmate Seth Thompson down to the PGA Show in Orlando, FL in 2014. During that time, we all attended the Network Training seminar held by Mike and Andy and loved learning from them.

Q: What is the one swing thought you focus on when you are standing over the ball?
A: I really think about keeping my head centered. I have a tendency to turn my head too much and it moves backwards, so I focus on keeping my head still to get good contact. Some drills I work on to help with this are the standard head-to-wall drill or using an alignment rod on the side of my head throughout the swing.

Q: What is the one item in your golf bag (aside from your clubs) that you can't play without?
A: Food, usually protein bars and almonds, and water.

Q: What is your best golfing moment?
A: It would have to be last summer in 2014 at the New York state qualifier. I needed to make a 15-foot birdie putt to get into the New York state open tournament at Bethpage Black and I poured it right into the center of the cup!

Q: What is your favorite golf course that you have played and why?
A: Definitely Deepdale Golf Club out on Long Island (Manhasset, NY), where I spent summer 2014 as an assistant. It is the purest golf course I’ve ever been on, the greens are PGA TOUR style and it is one of the best challenges you will ever face. I love it there.
