Practice Drill

In my golf swing, I have a tendency to turn my head too much and it moves backwards. I use this drill to help me focus on keeping my head still in order to get good contact.

Have someone place an alignment rod on the side of your head. Then, swing to the top and have your head stay lightly against the alignment rod. The alignment rod stays against the head throughout the swing. Do not fall away from it, or push into it.

The purpose of this drill is to ensure that your head is staying fairly centered. You do not want the head to sway too far back or too far forward during the swing.

This is a great quick fix drill. You do not have to do this every practice, but it is a good checkpoint to make sure you haven’t fallen into any bad habits.
