Practice Drill

This is my favorite version of the Flying Wedge Drill. The drill is practiced by setting up with your weight forward, handle forward, and the ball placed in the middle of your stance, slightly back of normal position. From there, we make short swings (lead arm parallel to the ground in the backswing to trail arm parallel in the follow through) focusing on keeping the handle forward, wrist angles intact, and the feeling of straight arms.

The purpose of this drill would be to eliminate any cutting of the ball and reinforce the push-drawing alignments. Expected shots could be pushes, draws, or even over draws.

This drill may be done anytime! While its a great pre-round warmup, it's also a nice way to practice alignments by reinforcing draw mechanics, or as a quick fix during a round if you need a go-to shot. Great way to play wedges and short irons down here in Texas as well…

In my golf swing, I have a tendency to turn my head too much and it moves backwards.
