Oskar Almlund

Oskar started played golf at the ripe old age of 6 years old thanks to his parents who pushed him into trying the sport. When he started secondary school, he moved away from home to play golf for the school team. While Oskar’s initial dream was to be a playing professional, he realized that he enjoyed teaching too much and got a job as a teaching professional at a golf course when he was 19 years old.

Oskar moved up the ranks through various clubs and recently began a new position as a teaching professional at Pestana Alto Golf Club where fellow Stack & Tilt Golf instructor Rob Cheney also teaches. Oskar is one of our brightest young instructors and is always working to make golf more fun for his students! Click here to request a lesson with Oskar.

Par 4 Q&A with Oskar

Q: What's your Stack & Tilt Golf story?
A: I got started with Stack & Tilt pretty early in my teaching career, during my first year of PGA training in Sweden. I first heard about it through Javier Nigard, a Stack & Tilt instructor, who came to my PGA class and talked about the system. During my second year of training, I met Stack & Tilt instructor Henrik Lundqvist (not the hockey player) and talked more about the system with him, and I was hooked.

Q: What is the one swing thought you focus on when you are standing over the ball?
A: Keeping my right elbow in front of my rib cage and not letting it slide back. I also try and focus on tilting and extending my back and neck as much as I can in the follow through.

Q: What is the one item in your golf bag (aside from your clubs) that you can't play without?
A: Well I use a gold American dollar coin for marking my ball, so I always have that.

Q: What is your best golfing moment?
A: It would probably my first (and only, so far) hole-in-one at Vidbynäs Golf Club at what used to be Hole 7 (before they redesigned the course). I stood 3 meters away from the hole when the ball went in!

In my golf swing, I have a tendency to turn my head too much and it moves backwards.
