Spotlight:
Sean Etheredge

Sean Etheredge had never swung a club before his 16th year on Earth. He played football, like the proud, tall Texan he is, catching passes under Friday Night lights and working for a spot on a college roster. Sean's uncles (the golf uncles, not the football uncles) get the credit for turning him on to our fair game, but it wasn't until he got injured in college football that it really captured his competitive heart.

Taking a job in the cart barn at his local course to get more playing time and sopping up every drop of golfing knowledge he could get his hands on, Sean worked his way through PGA certification and Stack & Tilt training to become an instructor at that same course — The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio — and the current coach of Trinity University's men's golf team.

A legitimate athlete, knowledgeable coach, and consummate nice guy, Sean Etheredge appears in our spotlight of the month. Click here to request a lesson with Sean.

Par 4 Q&A with Sean

Q: What's your Stack & Tilt Golf story?
A: I got some old tapes of Mac O'Grady from a guy I used to take lessons from, and over time, I connected the dots to Stack & Tilt.

Q: What is the one swing thought you focus on when you are standing over the ball?
A: I think about having my head steady against the wall, primarily. Then it's just extend, tilt, and turn.

Q: What is the one item in your golf bag (aside from your clubs) that you can't play without?
A: I've got an EyeLine putting aid that I always have in my bag to make sure I'm rolling it well on the green.

Q: What is your best golfing moment?
A: Honestly, my best moment in golf was the first time I ever got a check in a sectional event. I didn't play as a kid, so I never had junior golf trophies. But when I got that first check for $200, it was awesome.
